Promises concerning Humility.
A. Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud-Proverb 16:19.
B. By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches honor and life-Proverb 22:4.
C. A man's pride shall bring him low; but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit-Proverb 29:23.
No other Bible character represents more fully the conflict between the lower and higher nature than does that of Jacob. He once said, "I am not worthy of the least of all mercies, and of all the truth which thou hast shown upon thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands-Genesis 32:10.
